What every founder should listen to this week.
I’m trying something different this week.
Instead of recommending 5 articles to read I’m recommending 7 podcasts episodes to stream.
Here are the ones that caught my attention in the past month and why I liked them.
So be cautious if you’re listening at 2.0x.
📈 How Ryan Kulp Makes Micro Acquisitions and Has Grown to Over $100k MRR
What I Liked: Why start a company when you can buy one? Ryan walks through how you can buy a proven tech tool (Saas, Ecommerce, App) with no money down and then scale it to cashflow.
Podcast: Niche Pursuits
💸 How a DTC Leader Scales His Business and His Team (During COVID)
What I Liked: If you’re an ecommerce company or a DTC brand then you’ll want to listen to this one. Taylor Holiday, CEO at Common Thread Collective, talks about how he scales his brands and how he manages his team.
👴 Building The Berkshire Hathaway of The Internet with Andrew Wilkinson
What I Liked: Super inspiring how the CEO of Meta Labs has grown a massive business by purchasing small internet companies (job boards, design firms, podcast startups) to quietly build a 8 figure business. Love how he approaches problems in a unique way.
Podcast: Venture Stories
🎰 Taking Intelligent Risks with Jason Calacanis, Startup Founder & Investor
What I Liked: It’s deep dive on how Jason views startup investing, the parallels of poker and startups, and how success is a person’s ability to not quit. Plus, a good Brooklyn mob story.
Podcast: The Knowledge Project
♖ The Author of “Start with Why” Talks about Playing “The Infinite Game”
What I Liked: The ‘How I Built This’ podcast is doing a series in Resilience. This past week they interviewed the author Simon Sinek. He talks about how it’s not about winning but playing the long game. Great listen for any leaders going through crazy times right now.
Podcast: How I Built This
📧 Doubling Down Instead of Shutting Down with Nathan Barry, Founder and CEO of ConvertKit
What I Liked: ConvertKit founder talks about his journey from turning his side project into a $20M business. He talks about his inflection points and the exact tactics he used to grow. Super inspiring for any founder that’s currently at a crossroad.
Podcast: Leveling Up
🎥 ‘Groundhog Day’ With Bill Simmons, Sean Fennessey, and Issa Rae
What I Liked: Because Founders need a damn break from work to hear about Bill Murray. The Ringer rewatches the 1993 classic starring Bill Murray. Some highlights: Tom Hanks was almost the lead role, the groundhog actually bit Bill Murray, and see what was voted the most rewatchable scene.
Podcast: The Rewatchables
P.S. Lets take our relationship to the next level . . . on Twitter.
